Fawad Shah is a Pakistani National, working in the Addiction field for over 9 years. Fawad has a Bachelor Degree in Counselling Studies from New Zealand. Between 2011 to May 2018, he was working full time in Blenheim, New Zealand as Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Clinician. Over this period he worked with three Indigenous Health Services. Between June to Nov 2018, Fawad worked in Pakistan for
Psychotherapy based Treatment Centre for Addiction and Mental Health as their Rehab Incharge. He has also gained experience in Guidance and Career Counselling while working in high schools in Wellington, New Zealand.
Fawad currently holds Registration and affiliations with following professional bodies;
“NZ Association of Counsellors Inc (NZAC)”, “Drug and Alcohol Practitioner Association of Aotearoa NZ (DAPAANZ)”, Professional Membership with “American Counselling Association (ACA)” & International Membership with Australian Counselling Association (ACA).
Fawad has extensive professional addiction counselling/therapy experience, working one on one with individuals and groups from various cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds in various settings. This experience extends over several years of professional counselling practice between New Zealand, Pakistan & Thailand.
Fawad had also volunteered for the local Muslim Community in Blenheim, New Zealand for over 7 years in the capacity of Imam (Muslim Priest) and as the Secretary of the Local Muslim Association. He has had the opportunity to liaise and build a strong connection with government organizations, local agencies and also been a pivotal part in building a strong, inclusive and positively contributing the community. In the year 2008 for approx. 7 months, Fawad also volunteered for Intellectually Handicapped Service in New Zealand name Idea Service, working and supporting with Autism Spectrum Clients in their day program.
